On the afternoon of June 11, a delegation from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand visited our university for exchange. The delegation included Professor Saurabh Sinha, Executive Dean (Vice President-level) of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and Ms. Yang Wenting, Project Coordinator of the Confucius Institute jointly established by the University of Canterbury and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. They were warmly received by Zhu Lei, Standing Committee Member of the CPC WHSU Committee and Vice President, along with representatives from the Human Resources Office, Faculty Affairs Department, Development Planning and Discipline Construction Office, Graduate School, Scientific Research Office, Office of International Exchange, School of Sports Medicine, and School of Intelligent Sports Engineering.

Vice President Zhu Lei extended a warm welcome to the delegation, and presented an overview of WHSU's history, scale, distinctive features, and achievements in open education. Highlighting the longstanding partnership between WHSU and the University of Canterbury, he emphasized the robust collaborative framework already established through years of successful academic exchanges and joint programs. "This visit by Dean Sinha represents a valuable opportunity to elevate our partnership to new heights by combining our institutional strengths in student development, scientific research, and joint international project applications,” he remarked.

Professor Saurabh Sinha expressed gratitude for the warm reception and provided a detailed introduction to the University of Canterbury, including its geographical location, history, scale, academic standing, distinguished alumni, and key disciplines. He emphasized the potential for in-depth collaboration between the two universities in fields such as life sciences, applied data science, human-computer interface design, and engineering and sports science, capitalizing on their respective academic strengths.

During the meeting, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on international project applications, joint student training, curriculum exchange, international conferences, faculty and student visits, and talent promotion, reaching preliminary cooperative intentions.
