The second leg of the 2024 ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup took place in Poznan, Poland, from May 24 to 26. As a crucial warm-up event for the Paris Olympics, it brought together the world’s top canoeists, making for an exceptionally intense competition. WHSU’s young teacher, Sun Yuewen, and her teammates worked hand-in-hand to clinch the gold medal in the women’s kayak four 500m event.
On May 25 local time, in the women’s kayak four 500m final, Sun Yuewen and her teammates Li Dongyin, Yin Mengdie, and Wang Nan showcased their remarkable strength and prowess. With seamless coordination and outstanding skills, the Chinese quartet breasted the tape first to win the game with a timing of 1:32.78, clinching the first gold medal for China at this World Cup event.

With the conclusion of this event, the team will return home after this World Cup to embark on a seven-week pre-Olympic training program. Their goal is to achieve peak performance at the upcoming Paris Olympics. We eagerly expect Sun Yuewen and the Chinese canoeing team to continue embodying the spirit of teamwork and ascend to even greater heights on the Olympic stage, where they are sure to once again make their mark and bring glory to China.
