On July 28 (Beijing Time), Wang Zongyuan, a postgraduate student from the School of Sports Training at Wuhan Sports University (WHSU), partnered with Zheng Jiuyuan to dominantly secure gold with 467.31 points in the men's synchronized 3m springboard final at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. This marks the sixth gold medal for WHSU athletes at the championships.

The duo demonstrated perfect synchronization during preliminaries, advancing to finals with a commanding 57.21-point lead over second place. In the finals, they scored 51.00 points on their first dive—the only pair to break 50 points in that round.

Their perfectly coordinated fourth dive earned 91.35 points, substantially extending their lead and effectively securing the gold.

The pair executed their final dive (109c with 3.8 difficulty) with exceptional quality, scoring 99.18 points to total 467.31 and defeat the Paris Olympic silver medalists for gold.

Remarkably, this "hometown duo" achieved victory after just two months of training together. "We're progressing steadily regardless of results," Wang commented about their new partnership. The remarkably synchronized pair is now writing a new chapter in diving history.

From child prodigy in Xiangyang to world champion: Wang began diving at 7, won Youth Olympic glory at 16, burst onto the international scene with Tokyo Olympic gold, and successfully defended his Paris Olympic synchronized 3m springboard title. Now in Singapore, Wang demonstrated his continued dominance by securing his fourth consecutive World Championship title in the event with new partner Zheng.

Congratulations to Wang Zongyuan and Zheng Jiuyuan! This victory delivers the Chinese diving team its fourth gold at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships. May they build on this momentum for future glory! Cheers for our diving champions! Go Team China!
