On July 23 (Beijing time), the diving competitions at the 32nd World University Games (Summer) concluded with outstanding performances from two athletes of Wuhan Sports University (WHSU), who claimed 3 gold and 2 silver medals. Their tenacity and achievements exemplify the Olympic spirit and China’s sporting excellence. We’re so proud of our WHSU athletes!
Zheng Junzhi’s Triple Crown

On July 19, Zheng Junzhi, a 2023 undergraduate from WHSU’s School of Sports Training, claimed the men’s 10m platform title with a total score of 455.10 points, marking the university’s first gold medal at the World University Games.

The golden success continued on July 20 when Zheng partnered with Mo Yonghua to win the men’s synchronized 10m platform event with 437.31 points. This victory not only secured WHSU’s second gold but also became China’s fifth gold at the tournament.

Zheng completed his golden sweep on July 23 in the mixed synchronized 10m platform event, teaming up with Wang Weiying to dominate the competition with 341.94 points—a staggering 50.58 points ahead of the silver medalists. With three gold medals in his first international competition, Zheng has brought tremendous honor to both China and WHSU. Congratulations to Zheng Junzhi!
Qu Zhixin’s Silver Success

On July 19, Qu Zhixin, another 2023 WHSU undergraduate, joined forces with Mo Zhengxiong, He Yanwei, and Mo Yonghua to claim silver in the mixed team event (429.10 points).

In the women’s 3m springboard final on July 21, Qu demonstrated remarkable resilience. After an initial setback in her first dive, she staged an impressive comeback, climbing from seventh to second place with a final score of 318.55 points—52.8 points clear of the German bronze medalist.

Qu capped off her Universiade journey with a brilliant double-silver performance. On the competition stage, she consistently pushed beyond her limits to bring honor to China, demonstrating the indomitable spirit and relentless determination that defines WHSU athletes. Qu Zhixin—you’ve made us proud!
