The 2024 Spring National Finswimming Championship and National Youth Finswimming U Series Competition were held in Zhaoqing, Guangdong from April 17 to 22. WHSU athletes clinched a total of 12 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 3 bronze medals.

After three days of six fierce contests, WHSU athletes stood out with their excellent skills and perseverance. The female athlete Cao Luwen performed impressively. She not only wrapped up all the championships of the women’s 50m BF, 100m BF, 200m BF and 400m BF, but also created the world best performance in the women’s 400m BF in 2024. Kuang Shiqing took both the women’s 400m finswimming and 800m finswimming titles. Han Junru and Shi Zuojing claimed a total of three gold medals. The male athlete Zhang Siqian overcame his injuries and competed with others tenaciously, securing both the men’s 50m finswimming and 50m breath-hold diving titles. Wang Zhihao came out on top in the highly competitive men’s 100m finswimming.

Cao Luwen, Kuang Shiqing, Zhang Siqian and Wang Zhihao were selected into the national finswimming team by virtue of their outstanding performance in this competition and will participate in the World Finswimming Championship to be held in Serbia in July this year on behalf of China.
