
The first issue of “Advanced Exercise and Health Science (AEHS)”, the first English journal sponsored by Wuhan Sports University and organized and supervised by the journal office, was officially published in March 2024 after the journal name was checked and validated, the editorial board was recruited and formed, the submission system was set up, the manuscripts were invited globally, and the manuscripts were accepted by double-blind review. All the articles have been officially released in ScienceDirect, and are freely available to scholars from all over the world in open access.
Prof. Lyu Wangang, President of WHSU, and Prof. Andrew McAinch of Victoria University, Australia are the editors-in-chief of AEHS and Prof. Chen Ning of WHSU serves as the executive editor-in-chief of the journal. Deputy editors-in-chief of the journal include Prof. Louise Deldicque of UCLouvain, Belgium, and Prof. Gianni Parise of McMaster University, Canada. The editorial board consists of more than 50 internationally recognized experts and scholars from more than 10 countries, including Australia, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, New Zealand, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Brazil, Chile and China.
With the progress of modern technology and changes in people's lifestyles, physical inactivity poses a huge health challenge to the global population. Given the concept of “exercise is medicine”, exercise is the most economical and environmentally friendly mode of intervention, which is beneficial to health promotion and recovery from diseases, and fits perfectly with the national strategy of pushing the public health work forward and proactive healthcare. AEHS covers new results, technologies, theories and practical applications in exercise and health science. Current areas of interest include, but are not limited to: Exercise and health promotion and policy, exercise physiology and nutrition, exercise medicine, exercise and health psychology, exercise biomechanics, molecular and cell biology of exercise and nutrition, exercise and artificial intelligence. The founding of AEHS provides an excellent platform for scholars from all over the world to engage in academic exchanges on the frontiers of exercise and health science.

The establishment of AEHS is not only a response to the major national strategic needs of the Double First-Class Construction, but also a need to foster a world-class science and technology journal and promote the development of international academic exchanges. The journal is dedicated to serving staff members from institutions of higher learning, research organizations, healthcare systems, and other fields related to exercise and health science. It aims to provide a platform for scholars from all over the world to discuss the cutting-edge theories and methods in exercise and health science, share the latest research results in the field, and provide guidance on health promotion and recovery from diseases. We welcome experts and scholars engaging in research in exercise and health science at home and abroad to share high-quality and innovative research results, reviews and systematic reviews on the AEHS platform and lead the research direction of the field.
