On December 22, the first National Competition for College Students’ Career Planning and the Finals of the WHSU On-Campus Trial came to a successful end. After intense competition, we’ve got two winners of the Gold Awards, three winners of the Silver Awards and four winners of the Bronze Awards for each of the Growth Sector and the Employment Sector, as well as four winners of the Excellent Organization Awards.

Pan Gaofeng, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC WHSU Committee and Vice President of WHSU attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, saying he hoped that through this competition, the students would improve their academic performance, develop appropriate views for academic growth, employment and career, make reasonable plans for academic progress and career development, and improve their employment competencies; the teachers would improve their teaching skills, and WHSU would improve its capability of providing career education for college students and give good guidance to graduate students in getting jobs; relevant organizations would improve their employment policies, so as to effectively match job seekers with employers and enable as many WHSU graduate students as possible to find their ideal jobs.

The competition was divided into the Growth Sector and the Employment Sector. The Growth Sector was open to freshmen, sophomores and juniors, aiming to evaluate how reasonable their career planning is and helping them get closer and closer to their career goals through learning and practice.

The Employment Sector was open to juniors and seniors, aiming to evaluate their job interview skills, how their personal development is adapted to socioeconomic development, and how their employment competencies are adapted to job requirements.

Nine contestants for each of the two sectors delivered keynote presentations onstage in the forms of speeches, PPT presentations and so on. The jury gave comments on the contestants onsite, raising corresponding questions, giving suggestion for improvement, and offering “surprising internships” to certain contestants.

In the competition, the contestants combined their own academic characteristics and advantages firmly with personal ambitions and the country’s needs, making scientific and reasonable career plans.

The contestants gave captivating speeches about their career planning and practical experience to the jury, guests and audience in terms of their self-cognition, career exploration, career orientation, development path and so on, showing how WHSU students nowadays take the responsibility of contributing to the prosperity of the country with their efforts as young students.

At the end of the competition, the Gold Awards, Silver Awards, Bronze Awards and Excellent Organization Awards were decided for the Employment Sector and Growth Sector.

WHSU attaches great importance to employment guidance, creating a great environment for education and employment by launching the College Student Employment Competition with the theme of “The Fearless Path to Employment for Talent in Hubei,” on-campus job fairs called “WHSU Youth Job Fair: Just for You,” startup elite training camps for college students, career carnivals for college students and other events based on main competitions.

Next up, WHSU will gradually establish a long-term system of “improving academic performance, teaching skills and employment through competitions,” developing a holistic career education system consisting of career counseling, social practice, competitions, and classroom teaching, so as to help more WHSU graduate students find their ideal jobs.
