On November 12, the 2023 Basic Skills Contest for Physical Education Students of Colleges and Universities in Hubei Province, hosted by the Department of Education of Hubei Province and co-organized by Wuhan Sports University (WHSU) and the Physical Education Teaching Steering Committee of Colleges and Universities in Hubei Province, concluded in the gymnasium of WHSU.

Present at the closing ceremony were Wang Zhiqiang, a standing member of the Party Committee and Vice President of WHSU, Miao Shengjie, Deputy Head of the Division of Physical, Health and Arts Education of the Department of Education of Hubei Province, Zhang Chunhe, Secretary General of the Physical Education Teaching Steering Committee of Colleges and Universities in Hubei Province, leaders of each team, athletes and referees.

A total of more than 100 students majoring in physical education from 16 colleges and universities competed together. Participating colleges and universities include Central China Normal University, Hubei University, Wuhan University of Science and Technology, China Three Gorges University, Yangtze University, Jianghan University, Hubei Normal University, Hubei Minzu University, Wuhan Sports University, Hubei University of Arts and Science, Hubei Engineering University, Hubei University of Science and Technology, Huanggang Normal University, Hubei University of Education, Hubei Enshi College, and Sport Science and Technology College of Wuhan Sports University. The contestants competed in two major categories: basic theoretical knowledge and teaching skills, and motor skills.

Contestants in various competitions demonstrated good physical quality and professional skills with a positive attitude, highlighting the level and strength of physical education in colleges and universities.

As one of the co-organizers of the contest, WHSU attached great importance to the organization work, carried out in-depth and careful preparation, and made all competition arrangements earnestly, to provide the teams with modern venues, equipment, facilities and other hardware and software services.

After three days of fierce competition, WHSU won the first prize for the team in the overall score, theoretical knowledge and teaching skills, and motor skills, and the first place in five individual events.
