On November 9, the Symposium for Creators of Outstanding Logo Design Works for the “2023 Donghu Forum” and the Awards Ceremony were held in the Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province. Under the guidance of Lyu Yongfeng and Wang Bei, the two teachers from the School of Journalism and Communication, the four logo works designed by Chen Nuo and Liu Zuojia, the two students majoring in Visual Communication Design, stood out from numerous entries, were successfully shortlisted for the final evaluation unit, and were awarded with the Outstanding Work Award (only five award-winning works in the province).

Three works designed by Liu Zuojia won the Outstanding Work Award. The first work is based on the circle of the sun, combining the “circle” of the sun and the character “chuan” which symbolizes water, with an overall style of grandeur and simplicity, and a fresh tone. The second work skillfully combines the phoenix, the first of a hundred birds, with the upward-turning waves of the East Lake, a metaphor for the vision of the Chu people to bring together science and technology and to lead the development of science and technology. The third work is based on the theme of the soaring phoenix, which implies the confidence of the Chu people in inducing the development of scientific and technological innovation, while the colors of the logo are made blue and green, which metaphorically refers to the environmental protection characteristics of science and technology.

One work designed by Chen Nuo won the Outstanding Work Award. The logo design is based on the map of the three towns of Wuhan and the graphic circle. The colors are extracted from the water of the East Lake and the sunrise. The overall style is harmonious and stable, the tone is fresh, and it conveys the theme of science popularization and innovation.

It is reported that the “2023 Donghu Forum”, hosted by Hubei Provincial People’s Government and co-organized by the Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province, Hubei Association for Wuhan Municipal People’s Government and the Administration of Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone, was held in Wuhan from October 20 to 22. With the theme of “cultivating fertile soil for science popularization and letting scientific dreams fly”, the forum highlights the characteristics of “science popularization + scientific and technological innovation”, and creates a national forum with international influence for the integration and interaction of science popularization and scientific and technological innovation.
