On the morning of December 13, a group of 18 visitors came to WHSU, including Gleen Busby, Director of the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club and President of Kooyong International Tennis Academy in Australia, the club’s coaches, the professional tennis player Jason Taylor, the active ATP player Adam Taylor, Bu Chongyuan, Chairman of the Global Chinese Tennis Org as well as other organizing committee members and staff members of the Kooyong’s delegation to China. Wang Zhiqiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC WHSU Committee and Vice President of WHSU, and the CPC Party members of the School of Tennis attended the symposium.

Wang Zhiqiang expressed his warm welcome to the delegation headed by Gleen Busby, President of Kooyong International Tennis Academy, introducing WHSU’s academic characteristics, academic subjects and outstanding achievements in competitive sports. He said that the cooperation between WHSU and Kooyong is a landmark event for our university’s competency in tennis, and he hoped the two institutes would both send representatives to visit each other, so as to help the coaches and athletes improve their tennis skills.
Gleen Busby, President of Kooyong International Tennis Academy introduced the history, experience in hosting competitions, court areas and influence in the tennis community in Australia of the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club and Kooyong International Tennis Academy. He said that the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club used to be the venue for the Australian Open and is now the largest tennis club with the soundest system in Australia. He hoped to reach an agreement of cooperation with WHSU so as to further enhance the two institutions’ competencies in coaching.

At the symposium, Glenn Busby signed an agreement for cooperation with Ke Yong, Dean of the School of Tennis, and awarded WHSU the title of “the Shared Community of Sports Education of the International Tennis Federation.”
