The Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China recently issued its Decision on Commending National May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Committees (Branches), Outstanding Communist Youth League Members, and Outstanding Communist Youth League Cadres. Among the honorees, the Aquatics Champions Youth League Branch of our university's School of Competitive Sports was named a National May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Branch.
As an advanced youth collective deeply engaged in competitive water sports, the Aquatics Champions Youth League Branch has consistently taken ideological development as its core, organizational development as its foundation, and sound conduct as its guarantee. It has worked to foster a positive class atmosphere and a strong academic culture, unite and inspire young people to strive for excellence, with outstanding role models continuing to emerge. Within the branch, four members have been named Outstanding Communist Youth League Members of Wuhan Sports University, three have received the Youth May Fourth Medal of Hubei Province, three have been honored as March 8th Red Flag Bearers of Hubei Province, and one has been selected as a National Model Postgraduate Student Party Member among 100 nationwide. Several members have earned the Province's "Major Merit Citation" and "Merit Citation" as well as the General Administration of Sport's "Sports Honor Medal," while two have been recognized as a model group for "bravery in a just cause" and one as an active participant in such acts, leading the branch toward progress and virtue through the power of example.

Committed to its fundamental mission in competitive sports, members of the branch have dedicated themselves to training and competition with unwavering determination to win glory for the country and honor for the university, achieving remarkable success in elite sports. In recent years, branch members have won a total of 67 gold medals at major competitions at home and abroad, including the Olympic Games, the World Junior Championships, the National Games, and the National Championships. They have broken competition records on numerous occasions, demonstrating their elite athletic caliber. Among them, Wang Zifeng claimed bronze in the women's eight at the Tokyo Olympics, and Jiang Xina captured two golds at the 2024 World Rowing Junior Championships; at the 14th National Games, branch members took two gold medals. Over the past five years, the branch has sent 64 athletes to the national teams and 115 to provincial professional teams and has produced eight National-Level Athletes, laying a solid talent foundation for building China into a sporting powerhouse and supporting Hubei's strategy of sustaining its Olympic gold-winning tradition.

While devoting itself to the competitive arena, the branch has actively shouldered its social responsibility, turning its professional strengths into concrete service to society. Drawing on its expertise in water sports, it has made the "Water Safety on Campus" public-outreach campaign a regular fixture, spreading drowning-prevention knowledge and self-rescue and mutual-rescue skills to safeguard the lives of young people. Branch members have also actively participated in volunteer activities such as Yangtze River ecological conservation and East Lake waterway cleanup, contributing more than 1,500 hours of service in total. Through the energy and dedication of youth, they have helped preserve clear waters and green landscapes, demonstrating the responsibility and commitment of young people in the new era.
