On August 7, Beijing time, the final of the men's Greco-Roman wrestling 60kg at the Paris Olympics was held, and Cao Liguo, an athlete independently trained by WHSU, won a precious silver medal during his first Olympic journey. This is the best result for the Chinese men’s wrestling team at the Olympic Games since Chang Yongxiang won the silver medal in the men’s Greco-Roman wrestling 74kg at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

This is the 20th silver medal and the 56th medal won by the Chinese delegation at the Paris Olympics. It is also the second medal won by athletes from WHSU at this year’s Olympics.

In 2017, Cao Liguo was selected to join the Chinese wrestling team. In the same year, representing China for the first time at the Asian Youth Wrestling Championships, he won the bronze medal in the 55kg category. Since then, his event category was confirmed to be the 60kg class. After years of hard training and perseverance, he has achieved many remarkable results in both domestic and international competitions.

In this competition of strength, skill, flexibility and endurance, Cao exhibited a stable mindset and a tenacious fighting spirit, ultimately winning the silver medal. Congratulations to him!
