Vice Consul of France in Wuhan Laurent Cuenoud and his entourage visit WHSU

On the morning of March 22, Laurent Cuenoud, Vice Consul of France in Wuhan, Maxime Feraille, the science and education attaché of the Consulate General of France in Wuhan, Joel Dhumez, President of the French Savate Federation and Vice President of the International Federation of Savate, and Amine Feddal and Nina Bergandi, world champions of French boxing came to Wuhan Sports University (WHSU) to take part in the “French Boxing Champions’ China Tour”. Wang Zhiqiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of WHSU, and relevant persons in charge of International Affairs Office, the School of Sports Training and the School of Wushu attended the event.

On behalf of WHSU, Wang Zhiqiang welcomed Laurent Cuenoud and his entourage and expressed gratitude to the French boxing world champions for coming to WHSU for exchanges. He introduced WHSU’s history, school-running characteristics, discipline and specialty settings, advantageous sports, etc., and looked forward to working with French universities and sports organizations to build a friendly exchange platform in talent training, cultural activities, sports and arts, etc., so as to contribute to the development of physical education in China and France.

Laurent Cuenoud expressed his heartfelt thanks for the hospitality of WHSU and spoke highly of our remarkable achievements in international talent training and sports competition results. He said the visit was one of a series of exchanges to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, as well as a warm-up for the upcoming Paris Olympics. He hoped to cooperate with our university on the promotion of sports culture, to create influential sports culture together, and to drive the steady development of Sino-French educational cooperation.

Joel Dhumez introduced savate to the students and faculty, and Amine Feddal and Nina Bergandi demonstrated the essentials of moves of savate and interacted with the students.

After the demonstration, Laurent Cuenoud and his entourage watched traditional Chinese cultural performances such as dragon and lion dances and wushu.
