2024 China Muay Thai National Referee Training Course held at WHSU

In order to actively carry out the popularization and promotion of Muay Thai, strengthen the construction of teams of Muay Thai coaches and referees, and facilitate the development of the sport, the 2024 China Muay Thai National Referee Training Course was successfully held at Wuhan Sports University (WHSU) from March 9 to 12.

The training course was hosted by the Wushu Administrative Center and the Chinese Wushu Association of the General Administration of Sport of China, and organized by Wuhan Sports University. The participants of this event include Zhang Lei, Head of the Combat Department of the Wushu Administrative Center, Xu Shan, Director of the department, Chen Weiya, Executive Committee Member of the Asian Muay Thai Committee, Zhu Lei, Standing Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of WHSU, persons in charge of the Training and Competition Division and the School of Wushu of WHSU, and over 100 trainees from all over the country.

Zhang Lei expressed congratulations on the opening ceremony of the training class. He pointed out that the training is not only the implementation of the promotion of Muay Thai, but also an important manifestation of speeding up building China into a leading sporting nation. He hoped that more professionals in the field of Muay Thai can be trained from the perspective of specialization and standardization, and that the technical level can be constantly improved, so that the sport and the Muay Thai industry can achieve prosperous development in China.

On behalf of WHSU, Zhu Lei extended a warm welcome to the guests and trainees. He hoped that all of them could cherish this opportunity of learning and exchange, focus on the training course, fully absorb and apply the professional knowledge, improve their personal skills and qualities, and jointly promote the cause of Muay Thai in China towards prosperity.

This training course lasted four days. Somehaisripiew, Chief Lecturer of the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA), Attard, Thongchai, and other experts and professors were invited to serve as training lecturers, explaining theoretical knowledge such as an overview of the sport of Muay Thai, competition rules, refereeing regulations, etc.

During the training period, practical exercises of Muay Thai combat techniques and the assessment of Muay Thai sports techniques and refereeing skills were also organized, in order to let the trainees continuously improve their skills, enhance their level, and contribute to the development of the cause of Muay Thai in China through theoretical and practical learning.
