The men's 58kg category final of the Taekwondo competition at the 15th National Games took place at the Huizhou Gymnasium on September 26. Huang Kefen (representing Guangdong) and Yu Junsong (representing Henan), both undergraduate students enrolled in 2025 from WHSU's School of Competitive Sports, met in the ultimate showdown. Huang eventually secured the gold medal for Guangdong with a 2-1 comeback victory. This landmark achievement marked the first time in Chinese Taekwondo history that a single university has swept both the gold and silver medals at the National Games, representing WHSU's first medals (gold and silver) secured at the 15th National Games.

In the final match, Yu took the lead in the first round with a score of 6-4. Huang adjusted his tactics in the second round to level the score. In the decisive round, the home-court advantage spurred Huang, who unleashed an 8-0 scoring run using a combination of a "back-spin kick and turning kick," ultimately clinching the victory with a final score of 17-12.
