The 2024 Asian University Wushu Championship successfully concluded on the afternoon of June 22 in Harbin. The Chinese delegation achieved outstanding results, securing 15 gold, 12 silver, and 5 bronze medals. Among the athletes, WHSU’s competitors, Shi Xiaoxue and Song Xinyan, won first and second place respectively in the women’s 70kg Wushu Sanda category.

The Chinese delegation for this competition was organized and prepared by the China Student Sports Federation, with participation from 18 universities including Fudan University, Beijing Institute of Technology, and Wuhan Sports University. WHSU’s School of Wushu contributed two athletes to the team, with teacher Zheng Lei serving as the head coach for the Wushu Sanda event.

This championship marked the inaugural intercontinental wushu competition among Asian universities, hosted by the Asian University Sports Federation and co-organized by the China Student Sports Federation, Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education, and Heilongjiang Provincial Sports Bureau. The event featured over 80 sub-categories across three main categories: Wushu Taolu, Wushu Sanda, and Wushu Long and Short Weapons. Nearly 400 university athletes and coaches from 12 countries and regions across Asia gathered to compete and showcase the charm of wushu.
