A delegation headed by Pawel Cieszczyk, Rector of the Gdansk University of Physical Education and Sport (GUPES), engaged in an exchange visit to Wuhan Sports University (WHSU) on March 19. In attendance were Lyu Wangang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of WHSU, and Zhu Lei, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President of WHSU. Participants also included leaders from the Office of Development Planning and Disciplinary Establishment, the School of Physical Education, the School of Sports Training, the School of Economics and Management, the College of International Education, and the Office of International Affairs.

Lyu Wangang greeted Pawel Cieszczyk and his delegation with enthusiasm, providing an overview of WHSU's history, distinctive features, and accomplishments. He pointed out that GUPES is a key partner, with both institutions enjoying a deep-rooted friendship and a strong, longstanding partnership. Recent years have seen both universities engage in joint efforts, resulting in multi-level inter-institutional collaboration that includes faculty visits as well as short-term exchange programs for undergraduate and master's students. Lyu envisions a future of profound collaboration between the two institutions in various domains such as academic exchanges, joint master's and doctoral training, curriculum sharing, and cross-border educational partnerships. He also expressed a desire to share the latest research outcomes in sports and to jointly address pressing challenges in sports science through collaborative research projects.

Pawel Cieszczyk thanked WHSU for its warm hospitality, expressing admiration for the campus environment, cultural landscape, academic spirit, and infrastructure. He also presented an overview of GUPES, detailing its distinctive educational features and advantageous programs. He looked back at the journey of collaboration between the two institutions and the success they have achieved, expressing strong confidence in their future collaboration. He hopes that through continued exchanges and cooperation, they will further broaden their international outlook on education, enrich teaching resources, and enhance research capabilities, thereby providing faculty and students with greater opportunities for international development and collaborative progress.

Zhu Lei stated that WHSU values international exchange and collaboration highly, viewing it as both a necessity for open education and an opportunity for faculty and students to enhance their global outlook. He suggested that both parties build on their initial collaboration, fully leveraging the strengths of both institutions to further expand cooperative resources and establish stable partnership projects. This can include various forms of collaboration such as mutual visits for coaches and exchanges for athletes.

At the meeting, both parties engaged in extensive discussions regarding bilateral exchanges and visits for faculty and students, collaborative research projects, and joint educational programs, including a 4+0 undergraduate model and a 1+1 master's model. They came to a preliminary agreement on these collaborative efforts.
