On the morning of July 27, the opening ceremony of IWUF International Wushu Judges Training & Certification Course 2024, hosted by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF), organized by the Chinese Wushu Association and Wuhan Sports University (WHSU), and co-organized by Wuhan Sports University Education Development Foundation, was held in the small theater of WHSU’s art building.

Participants at the opening ceremony include Zhang Qiuping, secretary general of IWUF, Zhang Yuping, director and secretary of the Party committee of the Wushu Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and president of the Chinese National Research Institute of Wushu, Chen Jiping, secretary of the Party committee of WHSU, Sherif Mustafa, vice president of IWUF and vice chair of the Judges’ Committee, Li Yongqiang, deputy director of the Wushu Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and vice president of the Chinese National Research Institute of Wushu, Zheng Lihui, member of the Party leadership group and deputy director of Hubei Administration of Sport, Zhu Lei, standing member of the Party committee and vice president of WHSU, Marcus Alves, Iwan Kwok and Jennifer Dai Juan Gu, members of IWUF Judges’ Committee, Lin Xiaomei, Gao Chulan and Liu Zhigang, wushu taolu lecturers of the training course, Zhao Bin, Liang Yadong and Cai Qingchi, wushu sanda lecturers of the training course, as well as trainees from different countries and regions. The opening ceremony was presided over by Jin Xiaobing, chair of IWUF Judges’ Committee.

Chen Jiping delivered a welcome speech on behalf of WHSU, and introduced the basic situation of the university and its School of Wushu to the participants. He expressed that since its establishment, WHSU has always been rooted in the land of Hubei, taking serving the society as its mission, and continuously promoting international exchanges and cooperation. Organizing this training and certification course and important task entrusted by IWUF and the General Administration of Sport of China to the university, and it is also a specific action and vivid practice for the university to share the unique charm of wushu culture with the world. He hoped that everyone would seize this opportunity to cultivate morality through wushu, make friends through wushu, exchange ideas, learn from each other, respect and understand each other, and jointly become inheritors, practitioners, and disseminators of the humanistic philosophy of wushu, thereby promoting Chinese martial arts to the world and making positive contributions to the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.

On behalf of the Wushu Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and the Chinese Wushu Association, Zhang Yuping extended a warm welcome to the judges from all over the world. She expressed that the Chinese Wushu Association attached great importance to this event and has actively organized and coordinated related work to build a high-quality platform for learning and exchange for wushu judges from all over the world, striving to promote more fairness, impartiality, and transparency in wushu competitions.

On behalf of IWUF, Zhang Qiuping extended a warm welcome to wushu judges and colleagues participating in the training, and expressed gratitude to the Chinese Wushu Association and WHSU for their organization and coordination of this training course. He pointed out that as a traditional cultural treasure of the Chinese nation, wushu embodies profound cultural heritage and unique Eastern wisdom, and is now shining brightly on the international stage. This training course has attracted 94 trainees from 26 countries and regions, with 36 domestic trainees in attendance. Its aim is to promote traditional Chinese martial arts culture, cultivate more outstanding wushu judges, continuously improve their refereeing abilities and professional standards, serve as inheritors, practitioners, and disseminators of the spirit of Chinese martial arts, and jointly promote the popularization and development of wushu globally.

At the ceremony, the leaders and guests jointly pressed the ion sphere starter columns to announce the official opening of the training course.




The training will for seven days and is divided into two classes: wushu taolu and wushu sanda. The officials and guests participating in the training consist of 25 members from IWUF Judges’ Committee and the Chinese Wushu Association. The learning content is divided into five sections: rules, techniques, judging, theory, and practice. After completing all the courses, the trainees will take the end-of-couse exam, and those who pass will be awarded international judge certificates.
