The men's 1m springboard final at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games concluded on Sept. 28. WHSU student Wang Zongyuan, the last diver to compete, remained atop the standings throughout and won gold by a commanding margin!

Wang took the lead with his opening dive and never looked back, completing all six dives without a major error to score 442.75 points, nearly 70 points clear of second place.

Wang became the first diver in Asian Games history to successfully defend the men's 1m springboard title. China also extended its winning streak in the event to six consecutive titles, while the victory marked the Chinese diving team's sixth gold of the Games.

Wang had already claimed one gold earlier in his Asian Games campaign. Partnering with Zheng Jiuyuan in the men's synchronized 3m springboard final, he won with 465.87 points, 110.31 points ahead of second place, helping China secure its seventh consecutive Asian Games title in the event!

Wang's Asian Games campaign is not over yet, as he will next compete in the men's 3m springboard. Congratulations to Wang Zongyuan! Two Asian Games golds! We look forward to more good news from the 3m springboard!
