More good news came from the rowing course at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games on Sept. 24, as WHSU-trained athletes Li Duolei and Liu Yaqi won gold in the women's four final!

In the women's four final, Li Duolei and Liu Yaqi, both 2023 undergraduates at the School of Competitive Sports, worked in perfect sync with their teammates. With crisp, powerful strokes, the crew surged across the Nagara River, pulled clear of the field and powered to a convincing gold.

Later that day, WHSU-trained athlete Cao Chuang, a 2024 undergraduate at the School of Competitive Sports, won silver with his partner in the men's pair final in 6:27.22. Cao competed in the men's pair at these Games, a different event from his main discipline, the men's eight. The silver medal reflected the courage of a young athlete willing to step outside his comfort zone.

From East Lake to Nagoya, Li Duolei, Liu Yaqi and Cao Chuang turned hard work into a proud showing for WHSU. Congratulations to all three WHSU athletes! We look forward to seeing you continue to excel in future competitions and bring pride to both China and WHSU!
