At the 2025 National Games dragon ribbon competition in the mass sports category, a competing team composed of students from our School of Arts and School of Wushu represented Hubei. With their thematic work "Phoenix and Dragon: Auspice in Jingchu," they captured championships in both dragon ribbon freestyle and dragon dance freestyle, showcasing WHSU's excellence on China's premier athletic stage.

In preparation for the competition, the faculty and students from the School of Arts leveraged their professional expertise through continuous innovation in movement design, formation choreography, and emotional expression. Facing intensive training with three daily sessions and assessments every other day, the team rose to the challenge, steadily strengthening movement synchronization, physical endurance, and artistic performance. During summer break, they consolidated gains through daily online check-ins and weekly online assessments, building collective strength through collaboration. The team meticulously refined every movement detail, repeatedly fine-tuned the coordination between choreography and music, optimized costume visuals and practicality, and strove to deliver peak performance.

This championship victory represents a vivid application of WHSU's "sports-arts integration" educational philosophy, exemplifying the effectiveness of cross-disciplinary collaboration and the institution's competitive sports distinction. The achievement showcases both the professional competence and perseverance of WHSU students, while validating the university's substantive accomplishments in fostering comprehensive student development and advancing innovation in traditional sports culture.
