Students from School of Journalism and Communication win awards at 14th China National Undergraduate “Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship” Challenge

Recently, the 14th China National Undergraduate “Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship” Challenge National Finals came to a successful conclusion. Under the guidance of Associate Professor Yao Honglei from the School of Journalism and Communication, the “Happy Squad,” comprising graduate students Huang Tingxi, Meng Weilin, Yi Keyi, Zhang Jiajia, and Luo Yuyang from the same school, won the national grand prize in the BUC practical competition sector. Meanwhile, the “Chosen Team” formed by undergraduate students Yan Siqi, Fu Bin, Xiang Qixi, and Qin Yibo, secured the national first prize in the livestreaming e-commerce practical competition sector. Yao Honglei was honored with the title of “Best Instructor” nationwide.

At the provincial selection competition held on May 25, both teams were awarded the first prize in the province. The “Chosen Team” won two special awards: the “Best Innovation Award” and the “Best Creativity Award.” The outstanding performance of the School of Journalism and Communication in this competition demonstrates the school’s fruitful achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship education and showcases the excellent qualities of its students, who are “daring to explore and skilled in innovation.”

It is reported that the China National Undergraduate “Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship” Challenge has been hosted by the Advisory Committee of E-Commerce Teaching in Colleges and Universities, entrusted by the Ministry of Education since 2009. It is a nationwide academic competition for university students. As a project with key support from the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, this competition has been included in the list of 84 nationally recognized academic competitions for college students in 2023, ranking third among the “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” category competitions. According to official statistics, as of 2024, the number of participating teams nationwide has reached over 180,000.
